Gavin Reiter - Editor in Chief

I enjoy reading Edgar Allen Poe, Charles Bukowski, and Raymond Carver. I pull my inspiration and technical know-how from any media I can, books, music, movies, whatever. If it can grab me in a powerful way, there must be something there that I can pick up on and use. My writing circles around being lonely, whether my narrator is going to the gas station, being a snail, or watching miscarried kittens get cut to pieces. I write to create distance between myself and everything else, but I’m also writing to find out more about how I fit into the world around me.

Callie Flemming - Nonfiction Editor

I love novels and investigative journalism by authors like Truman Capote, Tom Robbins, Jack Kerouac, and Hunter S. Thompson. My main medium of artistic expression is songwriting, but I feel like a lot of aspects of music cross over with the craft of writing prose. I like to use nonfiction to dissect and interrogate harsh topics and situations in my own life and the lives of people I care about, whether that's through the systemic challenges of queer life, struggles with addiction, a malfeasant romantic life, or any other number of odds and ends that make stuff kind of suck sometimes. When life sucks, I figure that at least if I write about it, maybe I can come out the other side with a better idea of what it means.

Katie Fraley - Experimental Editor

I am a multimedia artist, which is why I am so drawn to the experimental section. It is a catch-all for any literature that cannot be pinned to a specific genre. I have many rapidly changing inspirations, but the work of artists and writers from the Fluxus Movement really speak to me. Fluxus believes that art is a part of daily life, that anything can be art, and anyone can make it. In my own work, I try to focus on breaking the definition of what one could consider “literature”, with much of my work being visual and freeverse. I write to process events in my life, so anything goes in my writing. Anything can be chipped away at and shaped into an inspiring creative work with a little bit of self-reflection, and a lot of constructive feedback.

Sofia LeVines - Experimental Co-Editor

I love experimenting with form and finding new definitions of what poetry or fiction is. My writing is typically feelings-based, and I like to jump around with associative images and references. Collaboration in this genre is really gold to me, as well as having fun! I’m still hoping to receive defenses for submissions that make no sense.

Dania Hefley - Poetry Editor

I’m interested in writing that blurs the line between poetry, nonfiction, and performance. A lot of my work circles questions of memory, identity, place, and the ways people try to make sense of themselves through storytelling. I draw inspiration from writers like Ursula K Leguin, Octavia Butler, and Clarice Lispector, as well as documentary theatre, music, overheard conversations, and the strange rhythms of everyday life. I’m especially interested in fragmentation, voice, and writing that feels alive on the page, even when it’s messy or unresolved.

Christian Daloul - Fiction Editor

Hello!! I am a Biology/Creative Writing AOC, and love the blend between sciences and fiction. I’ve loved fiction as a form of expression, and deeply exploring a narrative point of view I’d barely ever get. Most of the works I enjoy reading do not actually include strictly fiction, but I feel the aspects of fiction bleed through wherever I go. Most recently, I’ve enjoyed exploring the blur between writing and the sciences I’m familiar with, reading scientific articles, poems, and acting!! In my section I’m mainly looking for pieces that tackle complex issues from diverse perspectives, to curate a section that speaks for itself.
